Review: 2022 Cadillac XT6 400

This luxury mid-size SUV and IIHS Top Safety Pick+ features a whole suite of leading-edge safety technologies.

Recently introduced just a couple of years ago at the North America Auto Show, this mid-size luxury crossover SUV features spacious three row seating along with the sophisticated exterior styling for which the brand is known. Offered in Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trims, the 2022 Cadillac XT6 (short for Crossover Touring 6) is fits in the lineup in size between the smaller compact XT4 and the larger full-size Escalade.

New for the current model year, Cadillac adds Brembo® front brakes and color-keyed floor mats for all seating rows as well as red calipers and available 21-inch multi-spoke wheel design both available on Sport. Customers may also select new exterior colors options at an extra cost including Latte Metallic and Rosewood Metallic. LED headlamps and standard IntelliBeam auto high beams come standard on the vehicle, and a Platinum Package is available on the Premium Luxury and Sport versions which includes semi-aniline leather seating for all rows, leather-wrapped horn pad/airbag cover, console and door trim, and microfiber sueded headliner.

The Cadillac user experience additionally consists of a standard 8-inch-diagonal color touchscreen and rotary infotainment controller along with an available embedded navigation system. Select Driver Awareness features the standard Cadillac Smart System™ which includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, safety alert seat, rear park assist, HD rear vision camera, vehicle diagnostics, teen driver, and rear seat reminder. The Luxury trim of the XT6 is powered by a 235-horsepower 2.0L Turbo I-4 paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission gaining a fuel economy rating of 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway for a estimated total of 21 mpg combined.
