Dynamic Design Meets Enhanced Comfort in 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited

This versatile crossover SUV is designed for thrilling journeys while offering comfort, technology, and exceptional value.

The Subaru Crosstrek, a subcompact crossover SUV, debuted at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. It was put into production that same year, marking a significant progression in Subaru's vehicle lineup. As the successor to the Outback Sport, the Crosstrek was a hit in the United States with its unique blend of versatility and style.

In 2017, the second-generation Subaru Crosstrek was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show to showcase a new and innovative platform that increased the Crosstrek's chassis rigidity by 70% to 100%. The Subaru Global Platform increased in the length and width of the Crosstrek, and also extended the wheelbase provides more passenger space and legroom for both the front and rear occupants. For 2023 Subaru released its all-new third-generation Crosstrek which debuted at the Chicago Auto Show. Subaru kept the trusty and reliable powerhouse 2.0 and 2.5-liter Boxer engines but did discontinue the manual transmission.

2024 Crosstrek Trim Levels

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek lineup offers four distinct trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited. The Base and Premium trims feature a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder direct-injection SUBARU BOXER engine that delivers 152 horsepower and 145 lb.-ft. of torque. For those seeking enhanced performance, the Sport and Limited trims come equipped with a larger 2.5-liter BOXER engine that will produce 182 horsepower and 178 lb.-ft. of torque.

Press Loan

My press loan for the week was the fully loaded 2024 Crosstrek Limited. This third-gen compact SUV model is at the top of the list when it comes to extras. It has a refreshed interior and exterior and updated technology providing a comfortable driving experience. The heart of the Crosstrek Limited is the renowned 2.5-liter BOXER-four engine that will generate an impressive 182 horsepower and 178 lb.-ft. of torque, further amplifying Crosstrek's performance prowess. I didn't forget to write turbo in that last sentence it's not needed. The reason a turbo is not needed; the BOXER engine isn't designed like a standard V or straight-4 engine. Its four cylinders lay flat and parallel to the ground with the pistons positioned symmetrically on either side of a shared crankshaft creating less load on the crankshaft. The crankshaft efficiency means less vibration with no wasted or lost energy creating a more efficient engine that can deliver more power and torque. Also with a lower center of gravity of the engine and a compact engine length, the Crosstrek has enhanced stability and maneuverability.

Enhanced Chassis Dynamic

For 2024 the Crosstrek will feature another 10-percent addition to its torsional rigidity on top of the 70-100% it received a few short years ago. This enhancement is accomplished by the integration of a full inner frame construction and the utilization of additional structural adhesive. These additions result in more body rigidity and reduced overall weight. What that means to the driver and passengers is enhanced dynamic performance, a smoother ride, and a quieter cabin for an improved driving experience.

Refined Interior

When you look inside the redesigned 2024 Limited, you will see a sophisticated-looking cabin with black perforated leather and vibrant orange stitching accents that perfectly out the seats, shift lever boot, center console storage lid, door armrests, and instrument panel. The chrome interior door handles and chrome-trimmed power window switches pop against the black leather backdrop.

Adventurous Exterior Design

The refreshed exterior of the 2024 Crosstrek is bold and adventurous with its confident and broad-shouldered stance. New features are a frameless hexagonal grille and compact headlight design that showcases a modern updated look while maintaining its ready-for-action demeanor. The crystal white pearl body color is the perfect contrast to the black wheel arch cladding and rocker panels that not only enhance the vehicle's aesthetics but also underline its rugged character, promising an exciting journey ahead.

Safety Features

Standard on all 2024 Impreza models is the latest version of the award-winning EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. The enhanced system operates smoother, faster, and under a greater range of conditions. These improvements are thanks to a wider field of view, updated control software, and the addition of an electric brake booster. EyeSight can now identify bicycles and pedestrians at intersections sooner and, when necessary, alerts the driver and applies brakes to avoid collisions.

In my opinion, the 2024 Crosstrek Limited not only checks all the quality boxes in the Compact-SUV category but checks many additional boxes in the SUV categories that typically cost $10-15,000 more. There is a reason Subaru vehicles win national and international awards regularly for safety, performance, quality, and consumer confidence and this 2024 Crosstrek will continue that tradition.
