Review: 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Double Cab

Tacoma TRD Pro does a yeoman's work preparing the off-road course for the TAWA Texas Truck Rodeo.

This week I was tasked with helping prepare the off-road course for the annual Texas Truck Rodeo presented by the Texas Auto Writers Association. The event provides an opportunity for dozens of automotive journalists to test the agility, capability, and durability of the current lineup of newly manufactured trucks available on the market today. For my portion of the job, I drove the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Double Cab which did a yeoman's work of getting the job done.

Impressions

I really like the TRD Pro styling inside and out, but this bad boy was used much for its function than just its style. Not only did the TRD Pro's versatility allow me to haul a lot of equipment down to the event at Star Hill Ranch in Bee Cave, Texas, but it was also utilized for testing the newly redesigned off-road course since it is specifically designed for off-grid fun. Most of the heavy lifting (literally) was done by the off-road course building experts, but Tacoma got a jump start on the day and was no doubt the early bird getting worm by helping with the fine tuning beginning at sunrise and making last minute adjustments throughout the entire day.
